Reita's Pov
~~
I finally make my way upstairs.
Hearing the music before I open the door.
Good, Ruki probably didn't hear anything.
Unless he turned on the music after the real arguing started.
Stepping inside, I scan my room.
The bathroom door is open.
But Ruki's already finished.
He's curled up on my bed.
I can't help but smile at the sight.
I quietly step over to him.
Checking to see if he's awake.
But his eyes are closed.
His breathing even.
Poor baby's sound asleep.
I make my way to the bathroom, really needing that shower now.
Playing live onstage is definitely a workout.
And arguing with my father was more draining than I'd thought.
Between the warm water and the knowledge that Ruki's waiting for me, the tension seeps from my body.
I step out of the bathroom to find Ruki's now under the covers.
I try to slip in beside him, making the bed move as little as possible.
I think we both could use a good night's sleep.
As I settle in, getting comfortable, Ruki moves.
Curling up against me.
I wrap my arms around him.
Closing my eyes.
But before I can drift off, his voice reaches my ears.
"How awful was it?"
"Not that bad," I sigh, "And it's over now."
"Really?" he asks, sitting up.
Or maybe I should say leaning up.
"Mind putting your elbows somewhere else?"
He chuckles, moving so his hands are on either side of me, instead of his elbows digging into my chest.
"Better? Good. Now answer my question."
"Nobody's gonna kick you out."
"But that doesn't mean it's over. It just means they're gonna fight us over different things." he pouts.
"No baby. They aren't going to fight us at all."
"Explain," he says, sitting all the way up.
I sit up too.
Realizing that neither of us is going to sleep until Ruki gets his answers.
"My father's not overly happy about us. But he's not going to make any trouble for us because of it. My mother, on the other hand, seems to be on our side completely."
"Your dad not liking that your gay isn't really a surprise, is it?"
I shake my head. "No. Not really. But my mother's reaction to all of this is surprising."
"What? Because she's not having hysterics?"
"More like she's actually taking my side against him. She hasn't done anything like that in years."
We're both quiet for a minute or so before Ruki speaks again.
"Do you think there'll be any nasty surprises this weekend?"
"No."
"How can you be so sure," Ruki says looking at me strangely.
"Because we made a deal, my father and I."
Ruki narrows his eyes at me.
"What'd you do?"
"Nothing major."
"Spill it," he says, poking a finger in my side.
I swat his hand away "Knock it off."
"You made me promise to tell you everything. It's only fair that you do the same."
"I know. It's just not that important."
I lean back against the headboard.
"My father hates when I wear my noseband. So, for as long as your welcome I won't wear it."
"Is that why you started? Wearing the band, I mean? To piss off your father? Jesus Reita, why?"
I close my eyes, remembering.
"There was a time when my father took an interest in my life. He suddenly stopped. So I started covering my nose. I guess you could say I was looking for ways to get his attention."
He nods, even though I can see he's still confused.
"Look, your dad gives you a hard time about everything, right? How would you feel if he just stopped? What if he practically ignored you? You think you'd like it, but you wouldn't. I guarantee it."
He snorts "Maybe, but not at first. I'd have a party for the first few months."
I laugh.
"Anyway, when they aren't around, I carry one in my pocket. Just in case they should decide to come home."
"So, when they came home this time, your dad was too surprised to find you on the floor under another guy to notice you weren't wearing it?"
"That's a good guess."
"How long has this been going on?" he asks me.
I'm not really sure.
"How long have I been wearing the noseband to school?" I counter.
"That long, huh? Wow. I still can't believe you're annoying your dad on purpose. That's just crazy."
I move him so he's sitting across my lap.
"So, now that you know your boyfriend's crazy, what're you gonna do?"
He smiles that sweet smile that melts my heart every time.
"What do you think I'm gonna do?"
"Well, first off, I hope you're gonna kiss me. We'll just have to see about anything else."
He laughs, lifting his face until our lips almost touch.
Waiting, a smirk on those beautiful lips.
He giggles as I growl, closing that small space myself.
But his giggling stops as I try to kiss us both senseless.
Which, with Ruki, isn't that hard.
His mouth is just so tempting.
Breaking the kiss to catch my breath, I move to his neck.
Leaving feather-light kisses along his skin.
"Mmmmm, Rei" he tilts his head, giving me access to more skin.
I bury my face in the juncture of his neck and shoulder.
"We should go to sleep," I murmur against his skin. "Or back to sleep in your case."
It's his turn to growl.
"Why do you always do this to me?"
"I'm sorry baby. Really."
"Then stop it," he pouts at me.
"You want me to stop kissing you?"
"No. I want you to finish what you start."
And his pout changes to a scowl.
"So what? I can't kiss you unless I plan on making love to you?"
"I like the way that sounds," he smiles at me.
"You're serious?"
"Not really." he almost giggles. "But there's kissing and then there's KISSING. And if you keep getting me all worked up and then leaving me frustrated, I'll probably turn into a bitch. And then where'll we be?"
I just look at him, confused.
"I'll tell you where. You'll be wanting a different boyfriend. Somebody that's less grouchy."
"No I won't," I tease him back. "Especially if it's my fault."
"That's all fine for you to say now. But just wait until I turn into that bitch."
"You won't. I won't let you."
"Does that mean you're not gonna kiss me like that anymore?"
"Oh, I'll be kissing you like that again. But I won't be stopping when I do. How's that?"
His smile's back in place.
"Are you still feeling frustrated?" I ask
He shakes his head "Not really. Talking about becoming a bitch kinda killed the mood, ya know?"
"So we can go to sleep now?"
He moves away, waiting for me to get comfortable.
Then curling back up against me.
"What I liked the sound of," he murmurs sleepily "was you saying you plan on making love to me."
"I like the sound of that too," I almost whisper against his hair.
