i just really didn't like the pace at which the doctor and jack are interacting. it seems fake to me.... :/ oh well!

I actually really liked it. Their relationship seems very truthful to me and the little bickering seemed very in character. I know how you feel, for some reason getting immortal!jack and stubborn!doctor's interaction right is very hard. When I try, they just refuse to talk to each other and spend the whole fic sulking in different rooms on the TARDIS.

Also, I don't know why, but I found the fact that the Doctor (or the TARDIS) knows exactly how to make Jack's coffee really sweet.

aww... golly, thanks! i like to think that the TARDIS is the Doctor's cheat sheet towards making Jack's coffee the right way. :)

I think it's lovely.
My favorite bit has to be the Doctor's inability to express himself. It's almost like he is learning a new language but has forgotten the right word for the sentence.
"...pecked Jack on the lips."
Definitely the right word. "Pecked"

I loved that scene in the beginning. That vision of Nine was just perfect.

I know the mood of not liking your own fic. Annoying, isn't it? For what it's worth I liked this fic.
