this is for my theatre ensemble class:

In your opinion, do we have responsibilities toward our country? What are they?

Discuss...

[edit] This was kind of specifically vague. This does not neccesarily mean serving in the military, et. it could mean simply voting, or it could mean community service, or something entirely different.

you phrased this as "responsibilities toward our country", not necessarily meaning "duty to serve" etc...
can you rephrase/clarify or do you intend it to be this vague?

good clarification.

i think everyone should have to go to the coast guard academy.
and yeah, the voting thing is probably a good idea too. people should do that.

There should be a mandatory community service program for youth in the United States. But only for those who aren't able to pay their way out (we don't want to stray from American tradition).

I strongly dislike anything like forced military service or forced community service. As many know, I have done a lot of community service. So, it's not that I would have preferred not to, it's that I don't want the government to be removing freedom unnecessarily ( ... )

I agree, especially with the voting thing. I really don't want everyone in this country to vote -_-

P.S. it's the last episode of the second season, where Mrs Landingham says to President Bartlett "If you don't want to run for reelection because you won't win, then God Jed, I don't even want to know you" :D
