I hadn't thought about shrines before- what's that all about? Maybe that would help me out just now - build a shrine somewhere... What's the scoop on shrines in the out of doors?
Hiya, Building shrines indoors is fairly easy because there's no weather. Outdoors, though, I can work with the natural landscape. The shrine I built to Brigid was a good first attempt, but I definitely need to work with people who have better architecture and building skills for the next round. There's also a place called Four Quarters Farm building an outdoor stone circle; I want to visit there and see how they're building it.
I love outdoor shrines. There is one locally dedicated to the Black Madonna, that you can stumble upon when walking the trails of Black Lake. There is also a sacred site at Dog river, "She Who Watches" (Tsagagalal=one of the Indian stone gods). Welcome=)
I have much the same idea =)!! A nomad at heart (haven't put wanderings into action yet), with the urge to "reclaim" the city and public spaces in their spiritual right as well as the practical right - which for me involves building shrines, holding festivals and ritual, and writing up public information. I'm on the East Coast right now. I've been wanting to take a trip out to the Midwest in the past couple of years... only part of the nation whose energy I haven't felt to experience. Let's talk XD.
Absolutely! I need to find more folks who want to do this kind of work. I'm doing an event this Saturday here, and plan to do another in Chicago within the next year.
My web site is at www.ringinganvil.org. I'd love to friend you as well to keep in contact :D
I think it's interesting that a lot of people seem to be opening up spiritually, a lot without knowing it, and knowing that they want this, but not knowing ^^
Thanks for the friends' add! ^^ I will definitely do some posts in the near future.
Outdoor shrines eh? That sounds quite interesting, I might look into doing some this summer. Gods know Winnipeg could use a few and has plenty of places perfect for creating them.
