This film was really so sad. As I said in my post about it I felt as if a lot of it was about growing old, both for the characters and the audience.
I take comfort in the fact that things will get better by the end (because there's always a new generation), but of course Leia will still have lost so much. I was so relieved to see Luke at the end but I'm also SO ANGRY at him for going away, no matter the reason. I am in two minds about whether I would like Rey to turn out to be a relation of the Skywalkers - on the one hand I would like her to be her own person, but on the other I would love Leia to have *someone* left to connect to. And Luke better get his arse back there as well.
I also take some hope from the fact that I tell myself she had some happy years with Han before things went wrong. I really really hope that Kylo Ren has some sort of Vader type ending with a small amount of redemption, if only for Leia's sake.
