I think that the majority of doctor appointments you have as a teenager are more akin to police interrogations. They make you changes out of your clothes and into the weird paper towel gown things, and then they barrage you with really personal questions. Are you active when it comes to sex? Do you have any friends who smoke? Are you depressed? Even when you’re telling the truth, it feels like a lie.
I thought it was funny how, for so subjective a question, all they ask is, "have you been depressed?" All you have to say is 'no.' If you say, "no, I haven't been sexually active," you get a pregnancy test. Yes, you. I've never gotten a paper gown. The idea scares me.
Maybe not a paper gown exactly. I haven't been to a doctor in a few years so my memory is a little fuzzy. There is that awkwardness when they tell you to change out of your clothes. It's like, do you take your socks off as well. They seem like one of the things you can take off, but it feels goofy having them on.
