What exactly is a cnc/lathe?

That would be Computer Numeric Controlled lathe or a machine which spins work piece while a cutting tool moves along one or more opposed axis to generate a profiles in the case of a CNC machine one or more (generally the movement of the cutting tool though the rotational speed may also be modulated on more advanced machines) of these movements is controlled by computer driven motors.

Thank you so much I've been wondering that for sometime now because they are always hiring for that for like 13,14 bucks an hr. but experience is always necessary. But I found an entry level one and I wanted to apply for that. Do they hire females for that position? do you know?

Yes I have known several women machinists who where quite successful. Definitely try out if you think it's something you'd be interested in.
