Next weekend I turn 30 and I'm a bit upset about it. The fact I'm turning 30 doesn't bother me (in fact I was LMAO when my dad realized he *must* be old since he will now have a 30-year-old daughter...and that he should try to get in as much SCUBA diving as he can before then). Oh, honey. That so totally sucks.

Can we have a birthday party for you without it being your actual birthday? Could I or others just, like, take you out for an unbirthday dinner, or something?

I would recomend a party not on your birthday. I didn't have a birthday party until I threw one for myself when I turned 21 and I got a giant cake! In fact... I don't think I've ever had a party that I didn't put together myself.

I'm sorry I'm not up there for your birthday!

my birthday is also suckily timed (v-day!) so i generally have a party on a different day. on my actual birthday, i like to round up a couple of folks, go out for some drinks, and grouch about how my birthday sucks. it's very satisfying, actually, and i recommend it.

birthday/housewarming in a month?? twice the gifts!

So my kiddo is a labor day baby and so she used to have the same scheduling kind of party problems. May I recomend heartily, just have a birthday party after your roommates move out. It doesn't have to be on the day for it to be your official b-day party. Just announce "this is my b-day party and this is what I want..." A friend of mine really wanted the happy gift sort of party so she requested folks bring her presents, they didn't have to be big or expensive, just wrapped. No one thought she was weird or greedy or anything.
I really reconmend it... just schedule it for October.. no need to wait for next year :).

Mucho sympathies.

I didn't have a bday party until I was, um... 33, if that's any consolation, but it was worth the wait. :) And I know what you mean about the timing, mine's on the 12th.

At least I get to blow shit up on the 4th now... :D
