Do you guys think you have to have amazingly wonderful inherent talent to write novels and have 'em read ... or is it something one can train to?

Go if you can! I've readon some of Card's commentary on writing and how he writes, and he's intelligent. I love pretty much everything he ever wrote, so I'm biased, but I do believe he is an intelligent, prolific writer. And meeting him would be amazing.

I got to speak with OSC a few years ago and really enjoyed the experience.

Somebody (my mom?) once said that you have a million lousy words in you, and once you get them all out, you're a decent writer. In other words, anyone can be good -- you just have to do it, and do it, and do it. Talent probably helps too, but I think anyone can make it.

On the Card subject, I love all of his books, but I think I'd be happier if I never met him. I've read some of his essays (like the one where he suggests gay people need to be removed from society) and he really comes off as a creep.
