Even if Orlando had received a halfway teasing reply he had to try to get the older man to at least reveal some of what his secret plans were. “What exactly is it? The dinner was great and it’s enough by itself, Johnny.”
Johnny turned around as he had been standing with his back to the table. The smile that he’d been wearing since Orlando had first praised the food had grown and now came complete with a mysteriousness about his beautiful eyes. Orlando knew just by that by that gaze that it would be useless to ask any more. Johnny liked to tease and he was damn good at keeping things until he was ready to talk. Not that Orlando still wouldn’t try flirting a little with him.
“It’ll do you no good to flirt, baby. If you go into the living room, you could put the cd on that’s in the stereo, sit down and relax until I’ve cleaned up. Oh, and I’ll bring the dessert in there then.” said Johnny after giving Orlando a few moments to think.
As he knew now it was no use in continuing to concoct some sort of evil plan to get Johnny to tell him what he planned, Orlando did as Johnny suggested. Truth be told, he did prefer the cushiony sofa to the hard kitchen chairs. Turning the stereo on, the cd player soon sent soft tunes out the speakers. Johnny must have changed the cd; he thought that they’d left U2 in the player the last time they’d listened. Shrugging it off, Orlando plopped down on the sofa, moving around until he found the most comfortable position.
Leaning his head back against the armrest, he listened to the different songs that bled from the speakers. After a few, he guessed that Johnny must have put the cd together as it seemed to be of all kinds of love songs from different artists and bands they dug. Orlando didn’t think it sounded much like Johnny, but he couldn’t complain… well, not when he wished everything would start to head in a special direction. He would like to make love more than once and perhaps fall asleep in his lover’s arms, as it fit the day’s theme and he felt himself relax even more just thinking about it. He needed it so much.
Work drained him more than he thought it would have and he found himself more tired than usual. He told himself that it would only be for a few more weeks; that’s at least what Gore had promised. Having so much physical exertion all day, every day and having the problem of deciding what to eat during the day to give him the most energy created a definite strain on him. Now, apparently was not the time to think about all of that since he was starting to get a little drowsy from the heavy dinner.
The next thing Orlando became aware of was Johnny setting a tray down on the glass-topped table. Opening his eyes, he found them it loaded with coffee mugs, cakes and chocolate. It must have been the cups turning towards each other and the clink they made against the tray that woke him up. Johnny unloaded the tray before disappearing back into the kitchen.
The cd was still playing and Orlando recognized the new song that played as it came from a film. He thought the song was called ‘Listen to your heart’. Since the topic of most of the songs on the cd seemed to be to listen to your heart, he felt that surely he’d done that or he wouldn’t be where he was today. The songs reminded him something that Johnny wanted him to believe.
Johnny appeared once more, this time with a pot of coffee.
“I should help you.” Orlando whispered, pulling himself up into a sitting position.
Johnny placed one hand on his chest to push him back down. “Nah, it’s alright. I like to spoil my boyfriend and you look like you need the rest, darlin’.”
“But, but…” Orlando started.
“No buts here, man. Time for dessert!” Johnny interrupted, successfully halting his boyfriends protest.
Orlando quickly took a chocolate, popping it into his mouth before taking another one to do the same to Johnny. Johnny mirrored the action with a piece of cake. Orlando noticed a few crumbs caught in Johnny’s beard so he leaned, kissing them away. Orlando laughed as they started to snog each other, almost forgetting the coffee.
