oh the little prince. most definitely read/reread that. i just did a few days ago, and it is so very beautiful.
Diary by Chuck Palahniuk. Fight Club by him, also. The Poisonwood Bible, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, High Fidelity, The Pact, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Steppenwolf, White Oleander... all books i thought were very much worth reading. In any case, if you haven't read them you should check them out. They're all completely different styles, so you're bound to like something, and they're just so lovely in their own ways.
The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry if you like poetry? Dan Simmons has not-so-bad science fiction, his Hyperion and Illium series are both good. Stuff by Gaiman, if you like gaiman.
The Time Traveler's Wife by ??? Ishmael by Daniel Quinn (haven't finished it, but so far...) The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton Summer by Edith Wharton Pericles by Shakespeare Savage Beauty: The Life of Edna St. Vincent Millay by Nancy Milford Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel The Case for Faith by Lee Strobel (just an interesting look at Christianity) Little Girls in Pretty Boxes by ???
That's a good, eclectic mix for ya! :)
Also, how did you have a lot of free time last semester??? I was swamped and I only had three classes!
thanks for the suggestions :) I've read some/heard of most.
re: last semester...I don't know, really. I was only taking 13 credits (and I'm set for 18 next semester.) One of my classes was entry-level (econ), one was my strongest subject with an easy teacher (german), one relied on group work and presentations and class participation (my strong suits, sosc) and one was just really interesting (my hardest class, women's history.)
I also don't really feel a pull to get the highest grades possible, never have. I got all As and one B+ this semester. I'm sure I could have gotten an A, but I don't really care that I didn't. The class I got a B+ in was one for which I did no reading until a week before the exam (or the day of, as was the case of the final.)
I'm lazy, but it works for me...unfortunately, said laziness also causes boredom, because I don't spend time studying.
the time travelers wife pillars of the earth a winter's tale the crystal cave (i was read the book when i was little and all i remember is that its amazing) The way we never were; american families and the nostalgia trip. guns, germs, and steal the golden compass the subtle knife the amber spy glass i know that there is at lest one more but i cant remember them right now. so those are all really really good i highly recommend the first 3 and the way we never were

They're mostly light, but they do have a bit to say, and they're amazingly fun.
