Chapter 6

“Sho-chan will love this!” Shouted Aiba in front of the main door.

Jun shushed him and ordered him to be quiet or the neighbors will be angry. It’s been a while since Hiromu had seen Aiba so cheerful. In fact, the last time was before Sho had left for China. Those two…there was something between them, but Hiromu couldn’t but a finger on it.

“He won’t be here before this afternoon right? So why are we here now?” Asked Nino grumpily. It was late and he wanted to beat the final boss before working the next day, but noooo Aiba had insisted on making a surprise…NOW!

“Because it makes Aiba-chan happy.” Replied Jun as he entered Sho’s apartment. This guy…he was an idol and a famous newscaster but still…he hid his spare key under the doormat. For a Keio graduated he was really stupid!

While Jun and Ohno were busy in the kitchen baking a cake, Aiba, Nino and Hiromu were blowing some colored balloons and hanging streamers with ‘Welcome Home Sho-chan!’ written on it (all hand made by Aiba Masaki himself!) Well…Nino was rather laying down the sofa than helping.

“I still think it’s stupid! He has been gone for two days only!” Grunted Nino, covering his face with a cushion.

“Yeah Nino-chan…We love Sho-chan too and are happy that he’s coming back. We know you missed him.” Said Jun from the kitchen, a smirk painted his face.

Ninomiya mumbled something under his breath but none of them even listen to him anymore; they were used to it anyway…

“Aiba-chan…I can’t hang it! I’m not tall enough…” Said Hiro-chan jumping as he tried to hang one of the streamers.

“Ah! I think Sho-chan has a stool somewhere in his bedroom or something like that!” Said the cheerful idol as he headed to the bedroom.

“How does he even know that?” Jun asked Ohno. The latter only shrugged and smiled softly.

Everything went very well and smoothly. Ohno tried twice to ‘taste’ the cream for the cake but every time Jun hit it hard, explaining that he was sure about the recipe and that there was no need for Ohno to taste it. While the younger and the older were arguing about the correct amount of sugar Nino and Hiro-chan were playing at Mario Kart on their DS (Hiromu’s DS was a gift from all the members…that way the kid wasn’t alone when they were working).

“Hum…Hiro-chan…Weren’t you working on the balloons and all that stuff?” Asked Jun his arms akimbo with Ridaa behind him, his nose covered with pink cream.

The kid didn’t even left his game from his eyes. “Yep! I bet with Nino-chan that if I beat him at Mario Kart he would do all my work!”

“Too early, kid!” Replied Nino as he pushed hard on the buttons.

“Two kids…” Sighed Jun, shaking his head and turning around to face Ohno’s covered nose.

“Correction…three kids!” He said as he passed by Ohno’s side and hit the back of his head.

Suddenly a yell came from the living room, in fact there were two: a victorious one from Nino and a grunt from Hiromu. Seemed like someone was indeed too young to defeat the master…

“Go, go, go! LOSER!” Said Nino happily before he gasped and covered his mouth with both hands.

Jun and Ohno run into the living room, totally panicked as they heard the nickname.

“Hiro-chan I’m…” Started Nino, but Hiromu only shook his head and nudged at the idol.

“Don’t worry. I need to be strong here and here, remember?” He smiled softly as he pointed at Nino’s heart and head. “Moreover, coming from your mouth I know you don’t mean it as they did…” He added as he headed to the bedroom…Aiba had been very long!

“Great, stupid brat!” Whispered Jun angrily as he hit Nino’s head with his wooden spoon.

“It hurts! You idiot!”

Aiba indeed took his time in Sho’s bedroom. Technically it wasn’t his fault; he hadn’t found the stepladder yet…not that he was looking for it anyway… When he entered the bedroom, Aiba didn’t know he would have seen such a wonderful scene worthy of an An An shooting!

At first the idol was more than happy to discover that the person he wanted to see the most had already came back, but soon the scene in from of his let him speechless.

The white sheets on the bed were almost covering a sleeping Sakurai Sho, lying on his stomach. Judging by the towel at the end of the bed, the idol must have came back late the previous night, took a bath and fell asleep as soon as he left his bath; the towel sliding from his thing waist during his sleep…That’s how Aiba pictured the scene at least.

The tall idol didn’t even dare to breath, he didn’t want to make any sound that could disturb that cute sleeping form, rather he wanted to look at any skin he could see: Sho’s bare legs, his back that was rising and falling steadily, the bangs over his beautiful sleeping face and…well…his ass! Let’s be honest! Sho-chan’s ass was really, really, really beautiful…Only Sho-chan’s ass gave him the need to bite those firm butt cheeks and sometimes Aiba thought that he was really, really, really strange…having such ideas! But…look at this ass! Maybe he could just touch it with his fingertips, just checking if it was as smooth as it seemed? No Aiba, don’t! This his Sho-chan he’s thinking about, his best friend, his band mate, the one who always laughs at Aiba’s clumsiness.

“Aiba-chan why are you so l...mpf!” Said Hiromu coming in the bedroom before Aiba cut him short as he put a hand on his mouth.

“Aaaah! Don’t look!” Yelled Aiba, covering Hiromu’s eyes with his hand, and his own as well with the other.

The noise woke up the rapper who moved softly under his sheets. He sat up on his knees and stretched his arms while sighing heavily and then he turned his sleepy face towards the door of the room.

“Aiba-chan? Hiro-chan?!”

“Good morning Sho-chan!” Said the both of them happily without looking at the surprised idol since Aiba’s hands were still covering their eyes.

“Sho-chan?!” Said another three voices followed by quick footsteps. “SHO-CHAN!” Said the voices again when they spotted the idol on his bed.

“DON’T LOOK!!” Shouted Aiba as he turned around and pushed his friends into the living room.

It took Sho a few minutes to grab a bathrobe and join his band mates in the living room. Nino and Hiromu were blowing the rest of the balloons up; while Jun was panicking inside the kitchen because his cake won’t be cooked right in time damn it! Ohno was looking at a blushing Aiba on the sofa.

“Why are you here, guys?” Asked the newscaster, yawning.

“We wanted to surprise you…At least we succeded…” Said Nino giving up at blowing those stupid balloons!

“Ah…yeah…you did…” Nodded Sho as he looked at his apartment.

“Sorry…you will have to wait for the cake.” Said Jun, offering a cup of warm coffee to his friend.

And again Sho nodded, still a bit lost.

“Welcome home Sho-chan. We missed you.” Smiled Ohno, patting Sho’s shoulder friendly.

“Yep! I missed you Sho-chan!” Shouted Hiromu, pushing Ohno away and hugging Sho as hard as he could.

The rapper laughed softly before hugging the kid back. “I missed you too. Sorry I didn’t tell you that I would come back earlier than it was planned. I thought I would do it when I came back but as soon as I took a bath, I’ve fallen asleep.”

“No problem. Where are our souvenirs?!” Asked Nino, sitting on the couch and crossing his legs.

“Ah you’re right! Just a minute.”

Sho came back into the room with a black bag in his hands. He gave each member the souvenir he had bought for them, and even one for Hiromu.

“Me too?” Asked the kid as he looked at Sho, surprised.

Sho nodded and smiled genuinely. “Of course!”

Everyone had a different gift. Jun’s was a book about Chinese medicine herbs. Ohno had a bottle of Chinese ink (perfect for drawings according to the seller) and Nino a figurine of one of those old video games characters that it’s hard to find nowadays. Aiba had a T-shirt with Chinese signs and Hiromu…

“A stuffed panda?!” Asked Jun.

“Well…yes?”

“He’s too old for this kind of thing!” Laughed the idol, taking the panda and looking at it.

“No he’s not!” Sho defended himself as he grabbed the stuffed animal and gave it back to Hiromu.

“Of course he is! Hiro-chan, how old are you again?”

“Six!”

“See?!” Said both Sho and Jun at the same time.

Then a silence filled the room before both of them laughed softly.

“Thank you Sho-chan. I love it.”Said the kid with a genuine smile as he hugged the stuffed panda strongly.

*~*~*~

After a tiring day, Sho and Hiromu were relaxing at the idol’s bed. The kid was playing with his DS while Sho was already working on his new topic for News Zero.

“Oh-chan told me that you and Nino-chan wanted to quit before your debut…”

Sho stopped anything his was doing when he heard Hiromu. He put his laptop aside and leaned against the bedhead as he looked at the ceiling.

“We did…I remember the day Nino and I went into Johnny’s office to talk about it. When we entered the room was empty and we were the first to know that the group would be named ‘Arashi’.” The idol bowed his head and chuckled.

“If we think about it…it’s Fate right? Who knows what would have happened if Johnny-san was in his room at that time?

“I wouldn’t be here now…” Whispered Hiromu, bringing him closer to Sho and resting his head on the rapper’s lap. “Do you regret it?”

Sho went silent for a short time as he was thinking deeply. “No. Not even a second. Arashi is so precious to me. It is for the fi-the six of us, right?”

Hiromu nodded once and turned on his back to face Sho.

“You know… I think Aiba-chan likes you…”

“I like him too.” Sho replied as he stroked Hiromu’s hair gently.

“What I mean is that he…”

“It’s late. We should be sleeping by now.” Sho cut him short.

He pushed gently the kid aside and switched off the lamp on the bedside table.

“But Sho-chan I think you should…”

“You’re too young for knowing anything! Now sleep, tomorrow we have a tiring day waiting for us.” Said Sho with a firm tone.

*~*~*~

Even though Hiromu had thought that Sho would be angry in the morning it wasn’t the case at all. In fact the rapper smiled a lot at him and tried to make the kid laugh during their ride until the television station. Maybe Sho felt a bit guilty for talking firmly at him the previous night? Anyway, Hiromu was glad that his friend wasn’t mad at him; maybe he was still too young? But he wanted to help them so much. The five of them helped Hiromu when he needed the most, and until now he still hadn’t found the way to pay back them.

As soon as they entered the greenroom the room was oddly silent. Aiba and Sho didn’t look at each other while Nino and Jun argued silently about something that seemed to concern their leader. The five of them let the room when a AD knocked at their door; they all patted Hiromu’s head as they passed by and left him alone.

Not so long after their leave someone knocked at the door giving Hiromu a start. A middle-aged man entered and closed it as soon as he had passed through the opened door.

“Where are the guys?” asked the man.

“They just left for the recording, too bat grandpa.” Said the kid focusing again on his DS.

“You’re…Hiro-chan, right?” Asked the man again with a strange smile on his face.

“Yep, and you?”

“Johnny Kitagawa”

Hiromu froze suddenly as he heard the name. Quickly he turned his face and looked at the man curiously.

“Man you’re soooooo ugly!” He said as he stuck his tongue out.

Johnny laughed softly and knelt in front of Hiromu. “Well…I’m almost 80 you know.” He felt silent for a few minutes, looking at the kid in front of him. “I’m glad I’ve seen you, I thought it was already too late.” He added in a whisper.

“Eh?!”

“Hiro-chan we’re back! There’s a problem with one of the cameras we have to wait here until-Johnny-san!” Said one surprised Jun as he entered the room. He froze when he saw the president of the company in front of them.

“Hello.” Greeted the old man with a soft smile.

“Ah…you’ve met Hiro-chan he’s…” Aiba started to introduce.

“Yes…I already know him.” He cut the idol short.

“Eh?!” Said the five of them in unison.

“I think it’s time for me to leave. Keep the good work guys.”

“But…” Started Ohno.

“Arashi-sama? You can come back. The problem is fixed!”

“Already? You told us it would take hours before it would be fixed!” Whined Nino, dragging his feet.

They all bowed respectufuly at the old man before leaving, Jun pushing Nino to walk away.

“You, wait!” He said before winking at Hiromu and disappearing behind the door.

Hiromu was once again alone and a bit confused. After a few second his brain made it clear: He just had met the famous Johnny Kitagawa.

*~*~*~

Sometimes having a special episode is good. Really good. Particularly when the five members have to play a game and when the one of them won an ‘all you can eat’ ticket for yakiniku.

“I like this station! They always have good gifts.” Said Nino happily.

“Though I remember you said this morning that sometimes they didn’t even bother to check our schedule and that they were a pain in the ass…” Added Ohno honestly as he followed Nino and grabbed his hand.

“Well yes but it was this morning and now it’s evening so I like them. Understood?” He asked Ohno before pinching his leader’s ass.

“YAKIIIIIIIINIKUUUUUUUU!” Shouted Aiba and Hiromu happily.

“Be quiet guys or people will notice us…” Warned Sho in a low voice.

Aiba turned his face and stared at Sho, before both of them looked at opposite sides, blushing hard.

“What’s wrong with you? You’re acting strange since this morning…” Said Jun.

“No-nothing!” They replied in unison, before looking at each other and blushing again.

As the boys were walking down the street while chatting happily, Hiromu stopped suddenly as he noticed something shinny on the other side of the road. Without telling anyone he stepped back and tried to look at it from where he was, but of course he was too far away so he decided to take a look closer.

“Hiro-chan don’t!” Warned Sho too late, the kid was already running across the road.

They started to breathe again when the kid landed on the opposite sidewalk safely.

“This is dangerous idiot!” Shouted Jun angrily.

Hiromu waved happily and pointed at the shinny thing he had found but the noise coming from the road covered his soft voice. When he wanted to cross the road again, the five of them shouted and made big signs to stop him. Hiro-chan understood what they wanted from him to do when he saw Aiba pointing at the red-light.

After a few minutes, Hiromu could cross the road safely.

Or that was what all of them thought.

“HIROMU!”

The sound of their desperate voices mixed with a squeal of brakes and the screams of surprise from the passers-by… Hiromu felt a huge pain on his side, the other one hitting the cold road and then…

Nothing.
