Prologue1st WEEK :
Sakuraiba 2nd WEEK :
Ohno Ohmiya Junba Jun Sakumiya “Excuse me,” Ohno bowed in front of room 5011, Sakurai’s room. He peeked into the room where Jun slightly opened the door for him.
“Ah, Ohno-san? Why are you standing there? Just come in. This week it’s ours, yoroshiku ne...” Jun said as he walked into the living room and sat on the couch while reading a book. Ohno just stood in front the room and didn’t give Jun any response.
Jun frowned when he noticed that Ohno didn’t even move. “Ohno-san? What’s wrong?” Jun stood up and walked closer to the older man. He saw a letter of invitation, a high school reunion in Ohno’s hand. Osaka Gakuen High School Reunion.
This time Ohno was the one who looked at Jun, a quiet expression on his face. “Care to explain, Matsumoto-san?” Ohno said as he raised the envelope in his hand.
“What do you mean? That’s yours, right? It’s your invitation, what’s there to explain?” Jun said as he put a big grin on his handsome face. Ohno just looked at him straight and made Jun feel nervous somehow.
“Don’t act stupid Matsumoto-san...” Ohno said it calmly but from his eyes, Jun knew that Ohno was serious.
But Jun stubbornly acted like he didn’t know a thing. “No, I’m not,” he answered.
Ohno sighed as he gave up and asked straightforwardly, “I’ve seen this one when I lived in your room as well. Then I saw, it was my junior’s,” Ohno showed Jun the address of the invitation. It’s for somebody named Ikuta Toma. “I was just wondering why Toma’s invitation was in your place. Are you guys living together?”
“No, you lived in my place and I you didn’t meet anyone there right?” Jun asked him back and made Ohno feel really stupid for asking such a question.
“But it doesn’t explain why Toma’s letter was sent to your place.”
Jun’s eyes widened but didn’t say anything. Ohno’s still looking straight in his eyes and it ruined his composure. Jun’s eyes became watery and bit his bottom lip unconsciously.
“Yeah, he used to live with me,” he confessed.
“Used to? So, where is he then? Why did you tell us you were single?”
“He’s not living with me anymore,” Jun said bitterly and didn’t dare stare at Ohno. “He passed away a year ago. And it’s my entire fault.”
Ohno just stood there not knowing what to do. He never expected the day of hearing something about Toma being dead. But after he heard a soft sob left Jun’s lips, he snapped back and brought the younger to sit again.
Ohno made a cup of tea for Jun since the latter became pale. “I’m sorry… I-I didn’t know... I never intended to hurt you… I was just wondering if you knew something about Toma since I found his letter in your place, because...I wasn’t able to keep in touch with him after his graduation from high school.”
“Yeah, I know... I was the one who asked him to ignore you since the old me was a jealous jerk,” Jun closed his eyes with his right palm. He felt his head spin while remembering about Toma. “I met him on a cram school and had dated since then… even though we were dating, he always talked about you and I got annoyed because of it… I knew that you were his room mate back then but somehow I felt you were more than his roommate… so I had him cut any connections with you…”
“Ah… so that’s why…,” Ohno murmured and nodded his head. “Then… you two were dating until last year?”
“No… I married him three years ago… and I was still jealous with everyone who got close to him… then somehow I stopped believing in him… I thought he cheated on me with his superior… and we had a divorce right before he died…”
There was an awkward silence between them. Ohno didn’t want to believe what he heard. “You had a divorce!? Why?”
“I said, I thought he cheated on me but he didn’t and I couldn’t make up for it since he suddenly died... I--” he stopped as he couldn’t control his voice anymore. “I couldn’t bring myself to say sorry to him... Even...when he was dy-dying and I regretted it ever since... It’s my entire fault, Ohno-san...”
Ohno didn’t say anything. He was thinking that his next words would hurt Jun more so he kept quiet. Toma was Ohno’s roommate for two years and he spoiled Toma like his own brother, meaning, he knew Toma very well. So, he couldn’t believe that someone who had been together with Toma for more than two years couldn’t believe his junior.
“He got shot when he had a task of catching a group of bank robbers. His superior said that he wasn’t able to concentrate on the job and was spacing out too much. That’s when he got shot by one of the robbers. That was right after the day when our divorce was finalized.”
“It was my entire fault,” Jun cried and Ohno didn’t know what to do. “That’s why I didn’t want the Sakurai couple nor you and Ninomiya-san to do the same mistakes I did. So I brought you all into this game. You won’t know how precious someone is until you lose him.”

Ohno pressed the “down” button and waited for the elevator door to be open. It’s around the time for him to go to work and Jun had left before him. The door wasn’t opened yet when he felt someone standing behind him. It was his beloved Ninomiya Kazunari.
“Hi… how are you?” Nino greeted him, though the other didn’t greet back.
“I said, HOW ARE YOU, Satoshi!?” Nino shouted to Ohno’s ear. He was slightly pissed off because Ohno didn’t give him any response.
“You didn’t have to shout. You can just can take a look and know that I’m fine,” Ohno said coldly. He didn’t want to do this to his Kazu but he knows he had to make Nino suffer, so he didn’t offer any warmth to Nino.
“Okay… I have to make a mental note about that then,” Nino said sarcastically. Both of them didn’t say a word until the elevator’s door opened.
Ohno glanced at Nino when he said something that made Nino’s heart break into pieces. “I saw you and Sho having sex. It seems you enjoy the game afterall,” he said cynically.
“What?” Nino asked him although he knew perfectly well what Ohno meant. He just didn’t understand how Ohno knew about it.
“You really deserve to have someone better than me,” Ohno avoided Nino’s stare. His lover’s eyes made Ohno want to hug him tight and he doesn’t want it to happen right now. Not after he knew that Nino would probably have someone better than him. No one would understand his thoughts or the way he loves Nino. He didn’t need anyone to understand him anyway.
“What are you saying!? There’s no one better than you, Satoshi! You know how I feel for you!”
“No, I don’t. And I don’t want to because I know I couldn’t be that one. So stop this crap, Kazu,” Ohno said as they reached their floor. Nino who got really pissed off with Ohno’s statement, kicked his boyfriend right away from the elevator.
“Okay then! Do whatever you want!” Nino snapped and pressed the “closed” button angrily.
We won’t know how precious someone is until we lose him. I know that already, Ohno’s thought. He knows how important Nino is to him because he already lost his beloved one. He lost his Kazu and he had no one to blame but himself.

“It’s been a long time, Toma,” Ohno placed a bucket of white lilies beside Toma’s grave. “I’m sorry I couldn’t help you when you had problems. Well you know what your husband said to me…. Yeah… I know he’s still your husband, though he divorced you. I just came from your house and met your brother. He told me where you were buried and he told me about your last message as well. I understand now why you love your husband so much. He is a good man after all,” Ohno nodded at his monologue and kept his stare at the beautiful grave.
“He wanted to say sorry to you, though I think you’ve already forgiven him,” Ohno smiled while touching Toma’s grave. “You were always like that.”
“Ohno-san? Why did you come here?” Jun was surprised when he looked at his room mate for this week, smiling at his ex-wife’s grave.
“I never visited him before so I wanted to see him now,” Ohno answered and Jun just nodded silently.
“What did you say to him?” Jun asked after lighting the incense and saying a prayer for Toma.
“Are you still jealous with me?”
“Of course not,” Jun said with a blush on his cheeks.
“I said nothing except the truth,” Ohno answered him in the end.
“What truth?” Jun knelt besides Ohno.
“Some facts that maybe Toma already knew,” Ohno said as he waited Jun to finish his prayer.
Jun opened his eyes when he finished. “I don’t understand.”
Ohno laughed, “I guess you don’t.”
“So you have a secret with my wife now, Ohno-san?” Jun asked and pouted at Ohno.
“It’s Oh-chan. Just call me like Toma usually did,” Ohno smiled serenely. Then Jun heard the sound of a stomach growling.
“What an uncool senpai you are,” Jun giggled. “Like Toma usually said.”
“Okay… the uncool senpai is hungry right now… how about a bowl of ramen… my treat.”
“Thanks for the meal, uncool senpai,” they shared a laugh and walked away from the cemetery to go to a ramen stall.
