Hey! 'Zines are still alive and kicking! A good friend of mine is a pretty serious zinester and she's used some of hers to work through childhood sexual abuse issues, as well as just writing some fun ones. There was a big 'zinefest in Denver last summer - I assume there'll be one this summer too. And there's also the Denver 'Zine Library where they try to buy/collect as many as they can and keep them in archive. Nowadays, at least in my experience, they're used mostly to talk about radical queer/feminist politics and issues like domestic violence, child abuse, body image issues, racism, animal rights, etc...and are often written by survivors for survivors. It was really good. I think he used his job at Kinkos to print it for free! what a rebel...
