Oh Sal! I knew you OTI by years to come, and you are one of the best persons I met (and not in the www only). I'm sure better times will come for you. Don't put yourself down in those experiences, simply sometimes "it can't be" and there's strong will in accepting it too, just like when re-trying to "make it work". And a bad decision about that could hurt, but at least you take a decision to look forward to one way or the other. It's OK to be afraid, but at least you don't stop to *wangst* some more.

It was a lot more usual to see these in my LJ a few months ago. :D I've been through a bit of insecurity but I hope that's the last we've seen of it. Sorry for all that, it must be frustrating to have someone in your flist be so cryptic.
