when I told a friend about (suggested, really)the double chair gestalt, he was instantly attracted to it, wanted me to help him try it. you set up two chairs facing each other, and the signifier sits first in one, speaking to the space in the other chair as if to their other voice, the inner one, be it critic, demon, subconscous, or their ilk. Actually, I have witnessed this, while I was in group therapy. But when it was my turn, I totally chickened out! The group role-playing exercises scared the shit out of me. I can't handle people yelling at me anymore, even if it's not "me."

Interesting. I might do this one; but not in a group.

It's rare I can ever take my armour off for *one* person at a time, let alone a whole room.

yes, I should have guessed from your psuedonym (even when asleep, always on the...). I couldn't either. But it is quite fascinating because the new situation decreases the chances of falling into old defensive patterns, and slightly different creatures emerge.
