Damn moving sucks. Moving this time, for you, seems to out-suck all of my moves combined. ::pats friend on back::
I would **so** take the Applebee's job. First, you could make an arseload more money in tips than WallyWorld would pay you. Second, you'll meet more people (and thus more *interesting* people) at the restaurant than a retail job. And, last but not least, with some server experience under your belt and a good rec. from your supervisor you open up the world of restaurant jobs upon your return.
Well, it's a thought anyway. I kinda liked working in restaurants, though it's been a while since I did. Maybe it's the 20-20, rose-colored hindsight thing in effect. Feh.
At least you *have* a job to go to. (Congrats on that, BTW.) That's one worry out of the way. Now you just have to haul all your junk. :-P
Thanks, man. Why is it that knowing someone gives a shit makes things feel better?
All of this is definitely true. Plus, at Applebee's, I have the opportunity to try my hand at bartending, which I *really* want to do for some reason. (Doesn't have anything to do with meeting chicks. Cough.)
Restaurants HAVE to be better than fast food. People seem to respect restaurant workers far more than burger-slingers. So no, it's not just your rose-colored glasses. ;-)
Oh, all that junk...gaargh! I had a HUGE duffel bag full of books and shit yesterday, and completely lost track of time and forgot to take it home while I was up! Now you know why there's a forehead shaped dent in my wall.
Outback is more expensive, which means higher ticket averages, and better tips. The only problem is that Outback rarely hires first time servers. They usually ask for at least a year experience.
And the next time you have some extra money or someone taking you out to eat, you MUST go to Outback. And if you go to the one in Huntsville, and Tim is still the proprietor, you can tell him Laura The Girl With All The Pins From Sheffield says howdy.
