Thinking that it would, theoretically, be an 'easy' job, we ambitiously decided to tile the guest bathroom last weekend. Like, finish it *over the weekend*. It turns out this was a very ambitious undertaking with many issues we did not suspect, including having to add a waterproofing layer because the &*&*& builders didn't; learning that I, in ( Read more... )

We inherited our infant car seat from squirrelhaven and outsidetheparty. It was a Graco something-or-other -- the one where the carseat lifts out of the car and snaps into a stroller, and then when the kid outgrows the infant carseat, they can sit in the stroller without the attached carseat on top. On the whole we have found that Graco makes awesome things.

Squirrelhaven made me a really useful list of Things I Would Need When I Came Home from the Hospital with (ack!) a Baby. I can dig it up for you if and when you want, though I think you don't quite need it yet. *g* I wish you lived closer so we could hand things down to you...

I'm not sure my short little arms can carry one of the snap-out kind; lots of shorter women seem to complain, anyway. If I can't carry it around easily (but how do I even check?), I figured I would just buy one of the convertible infant-to-toddler ones. I think we'll want more of a jogging stroller around here, and those don't always play nicely with the snap-in seats anyway. But then, the convertibles are harder to use in our car model, so....lots of decisions!
My SIL is giving us a bunch of her baby stuff, so it remains to be seen how much is left to get. I have grand plans of making a lot of the make-able stuff myself--if I ever have that sort of energy again, that is!

We also had a Graco-something or other. I can't remember how we picked it, though I did take some scouting trips to Target, where I could just wander up and down the aisles of the baby department and look at prices and names and wonder what it all meant. :)

I am more than a little bit afraid of the baby section/stores. I think this is a milestone I have not hit yet--internet research seems so comparatively *safe*!

The Internet is.... a little too big for me, and I get overwhelmed by the billions of options. One row of shelves at Target at a time, on the other hand, is something I can take in.
