I have loved penguins since 3rd grade. They are really quirky and cute in an endearing way. When I heard about the movie March of the Penguins I was really excited. The fact that the religious right has now latched onto the movie, and using it as part of their arsenal in defence of intelligent design disgusts me

The thing which gets me is the term "intelligent design." I feel that the only people allowed to be creationists are the gnostics, who'd point out that only an incompetent demiurge would be able of producing the crap show that is life-on-earth.

My favourite counter example to intelligent design is that of the rabbit, whose bacteria to digest certain foodstuffs is in the wrong position in the intestine, causing it to need to eat its own faeces in order to survive. Now, would you want to worship a God who came up with that?
