Nothing terribly serious, although it hasn't been anything that I've been able to fix over the past couple of months. I really appreciate the birthday message, by the way!
Cucumber Day came about because the Korean word for cucumber (오이; oh-ee) sounds just like the pronunciation of the numbers 5-2 (i.e., May second). And there's your Korean lesson for the day. ;)
I think I've had this update for the last year ... but I don't think we've exchanged (m)any comments on my LiveJournal in that time.
Oh, thanks for the explanation about Cucumber Day, I like to learn stuff like that. Do they decorate with cucumber, eat cucumber, etc or is it just Cucumber Day because of the pronunciation being similar?
Oh and yes, it's one of the MANY entries I've missed. I keep telling me I'll read everything one day, but... you know how it goes.
I've never seen anything posted about Cucumber Day here -- just an aside posted to a website somewhere in the past. Presumably there are cucumber farmers who want it to catch on in popularity, but I think it will remain as a humorous coincidence in pronunciation.
None that I've seen -- it looks like it's based on the coincidence of 5-2 (May 2nd) getting pronounced the same (오이; oh-ee) as the Korean word for cucumber. Then again, there could always be some events that take place but aren't as popular.
Some of it was trying to decide if I wanted to make the posts public (since it partially relates to living in Korea and I might get feedback from other expats living here) or friends-only. I might still write about some of it later.
I believe cucumbers might just be the snack of choice for Korean hikers, so don't worry about them suddenly losing popularity here.
Things are much better in one area, another is alright if I don't think about it, but I am still having trouble deciding whether to renew my contract for another year or look for work elsewhere.
Surprise packages are always appreciated, but please take your time. :)

I hope it was nothing too serious that kept you away. And I hope things are better now.
