I'm applying to The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Portland for the fall quarter of this year. I'm scared, excited, and not really sure what I'm rightly doing, and it's a bit overwhelming, but I think it will turn out well. Also, PORTLAND!!! Please, discuss here if you feel it's necessary, or call/text me. Any outward ( Read more... )

Have you told your mom yet? cometfrog April 14 2010, 23:47:04 UTC
How about your dad?
Waiting until you're accepted? I would too. But I'm proud of you for making a decision for yourself that might bring you great joy. When does the quarter start? How are the costs? Is there student housing?
This is a bit similar to Davida's current plan and I support you both. As a matter of fact, I plan to live vicariously through you.

I haven't told my dad yet, but I discussed it briefly with my mother. She wasn't livid, but she wasn't happy with it either :( All of her arguments made sense, but weren't right for me...I'm still waiting to see whether or not she will try to persuade me out of it.
Actually, Keri is planning on doing it too! Quarter starts in october, and though it's expensive, totally worth it! Keri and I will probably end up finding an apartment to share.

I'm glad you've spoken to your mom and I'm surprised (and oddly pleased) you did it at tax time. I'm glad Keri's going too, being able to support each other will be a big help. How expensive is it?

I'm completely in favor of international culinary schools and also art institutes. But joining the Portland/Fairbanks exchange program is excessive. I still love you. And your hair. You cut it and you're dead to me.

Don't listen to her. It grows back freakishly fast, anyway. Cut your hair.
