Had some nasty, nasty winds earlier but recently things have been relatively calm. Made it out to check/refill water, gave everyone a small mash(about 1/4 what they would normally get), and tossed another flake to everyone for the night as they all still had plenty left ( Read more... )

Know of anything you can do for a horse covered in fire ant bites? Cash, a boarder, apparently rolled/laid in a fire ant bed at some point during the night and is now covered in bites. I've never seen a horse with THIS many BIG bites all over one entire side(he literally looks covered in hives)and so obviously in pain from the bites before. ( Read more... )

Sometimes I wonder how long I will be doing this job. I mean, I love it, but wouldn't it be nice to one day have time to do REAL things? I would like working at least part time in something a bit more science related. Maybe be a vet assistang again. Who knows. But then, what would happen to this place?
