So last night I ate cow heart off a stick on the street. I pretty much freaked out the entire time, but managed to get it down. They kept telling me that any other part of meat you eat is just muscle, and that´s all the heart is too. Eck, it just seemed wrong. Life goes on in Peru. The days pass quickly since we really only get about 4 hours of freetime a day if we want to get to bed early enough to get up the next morning. I suddenly feel wildly nostalgic for Maine. It´s not realy nostalgia though, more like sadness about not knowing anyone there anymore. I’ve been in Pacasmayo for about a week now, having spent my first 4 days in Peru in Lima. Comparatively, Pacasmayo is about the size of ½ a neighborhood in Lima- a city of about 9 or 10 million now. Here I am in Pacasmayo, surf city peru. Pacasmayo really is a cute little town on the beautiful pacific coast. Yesterday we got some breakfast at the hotel which sits right on the waterfront. i'm in peru.
i love it. i remembered last night why i love traveling so much. the immersion into a place so entirely different from what i'm used to is beautiful. my spanish is okay... i have no doubt it'll improve greatly. ah! i'm so excited. this will be a great summer i'm sure.
