A couple of non-spoilery highlights

Okay, well, it seems like some people want a travel journal (Jenni!) so I think I will do one. (Jenni, I want more of Japan! All I remember is Jack being chased by deer.) I was trying to figure out what I could post in the meantime that wouldn't end up spoiling the travel journal while still answering some of the questions that popped up in the ( Read more... )

china, bakeries, jiuzhaigou, yaks, emeishan, kfc, wontons, air china, travel

Aww, since tharyn's in Spain now, she'll have to find out about your adventure later...

On the passport thing, man...that royally stinks. :( I hope it didn't cause you to not enjoy your trip. When I found out about the Google thing (luckily, after Japan and while I was at Taiwan), it ruined almost 3 days of my time at Taiwan (I was being a major bummer). And I got pulled down by a petty bickering scenario.

I tend to try be positive despite what hurdles come my way, but that one was really tough to shrug off. So you never got your passport back in the end? Although after all your work to get a new one, that would not be cheery either. Did it hurt your travel itinerary?

YAKS!

I'm sorry, but I have to comment - the gay yaks thing is just the funniest thing I've heard/seen all day. :)

I heard about the Google thing. :( I'm sorry to hear about that, they screwed you over. At least I can tell you that I understand how it is to get shitty news in the middle of what's supposed to be a wonderful vacation. At least you got to enjoy the week in Japan ( ... )

Yaks AND bakeries? Does it get any better?! ;)

I am so sorry you had to go through such hassle with the new passport. Oy. This is a silly question, but oh well... are the yaks friendly? Or are they like the US-equivalent to pigeons or something? Educate me! lol

That picture of Jiuzhaigou, the pond, that is just beautiful.

Oh! I was telling my friend Johanna how, when we were younger, you'd write of how much you hated Chinese school, and she fully agrees. She and her brother were both forced to go for many years.

Last thing, I promise. :) Is the travel journal going to be online or only in real life?

I have no idea if the yaks were friendly. Well, they obviously weren't puppy/lamb/horsey friendly, but they were domesticated and obviously used to humans. They stalked us quite a bit (such as the one above) by just walking close to us, and then stopping and just standing there, staring at us. We kind of stared back at them nervously and edged away. The horns looked sharp, and we weren't about to test their hooves.

Travel journal would be here in LJ. I have one in real life - or some smudges of it, anyways, just random notes jotted down here and there whenever I had time, so i need to condense that all together into something coherent.

Yeah, I guess I missed some entries while I was in Spain.

KITTY!!!!! I take a LOT of pictures of foreign cats when I travel.

KFC was ridiculously popular in KL as well. I didn't try it, but I was amazed at the line inside.

I wanna see more pictures!!

I think I dropped it (that and my little security pouch) on the floor by accident.

What's why you don't have a "security pouch," "money belt," etc. My (small amount of) money is always in my pocket and my passport is always in an inner pocket in my purse when I travel. If I leave my purse on the floor, then I'm an idiot. If someone cuts my purse strap and runs, then oh well. Live in China forever.

Working on it! More pictures coming soon!

You have foreign cats, I have foreign dogs. I took SO many pictures of Tibetan doggies.
