Both gone. Both for me still here. Over decades I have picked up their books again and again, always new, always different, always (and more and more) familiar. I buy them and give them away, I hope with the gift, I wonder -- will she, will he, show the soul-likeness that I hope for, will (s)he love these books too

I'll will definitely check both of them out. Online, I glanced at Wolf's German this morning at 3:00 AM. It's daunting for me - I'm afraid I would be up to my knees by page 3 if I attempted one of her books. I'll probably have to rely on the translations.
On Hoban's wiki page: In 1969, Hoban, his wife, and their children travelled to London, intending to stay only a short time. The marriage dissolved, and while the rest of the family returned to the United States, Hoban remained in London for the rest of his life. All of his adult novels except Riddley Walker, Pilgermann and Fremder are set in whole or part in contemporary London. Almost a story in itself.
