I thought "furry toast" was what you got from dropping old bread in the toaster without checking it first for mould.

That too! An apposite comment: Just this morning I took two bagels that were starting to go a tad blue and spotty, halved them, and put them into the freezer. For me, not for the BF... a bit of mould on anything except cheese and he has a hairball attack. I am spared a great deal by agnosticism with respect to the Germ Theory of Disease. And I get both of those bagels.

Bunda, fur, or fur coat, or bribe... but bundás, adjectival suffix, as in bundáskenyér, bundásalma, means fried. Fried bread, fried apples (well, apple fritters). The small-bowel mucosa can be described as bundás, "villose", furry...

Maybe there's a Magyar verb out there that means "make an egg batter and fry in butter and dust with powdered sugar". Bundáni, something like that. Maybe.
