What're tattoos used fer on your home world?

Found a book in the library t'day. Got a guy--[ugly chuckle.]--with a topknot and what looks like'a lurker shark on his back. Y'don't see nothin' stupid like that back home.

Well, there's a few people who have tattoos on their heads, which are bald. I don't know why, they have them. Some other Mithra's have some on their face or is that just natural? I don't have any so I don't know.

...I have one, not by choice though. It allows me to use Blue Magic. I rather not talk about it.

Y'know, lookin' back I should'a researched this stuff, but I never had the Mardamned time. When I had access t'the records I was either digging up shit on the Baron, or trainin' rookies.

When'd the tattooin' start? I know Mar had the Red Eco Guards that later became th'Krimzon Guards...but who decided t'add the ink. Y'had history.

Decoration 'cause some people like how it looks. Identification 'cause if y'been in prison y'get some ink, same as if you're an officer in the military.

I know of cultures who think that the tattoos help boost their powers.

They're somewhat rare in my region. I think they look nice.

Well, as I said, they're rare, so I find something exotic about them. The people I know that have them either have it as a power boost or because whatever's tattooed is important to them.

I had one for a while when I was a student on Europa, but then I got bored with it and had it removed. It was out of fashion by then, anyway.

Oh, it was just the standard abstract growing and shrinking design everybody gets up an arm when they decide they want a tattoo.

I went to a body mod clinic with the artist friend who helped me with the design, and they injected the nanomachines with the pigment. When I decided I was done with it, I went back to the clinic and they deactivated it. My body absorbed the pigments over the course of a few weeks.
