On the flipside, I had to dive in an awful wildgrown hedge recently (ETA: or rather, last summer). It was about ten feet wide and I have no idea how wide, full of thorns and delicious raspberries (which tend to grow either loose through other vegetation, or thick as you can get) to rescue my dog (munching happily at the raspberries).
The thick stuff, not so much fun or fast to get through -- you'll bounce off if you run into it, and never mind all the cuts and scrapes. The loose stuff, you'll get tangled in it no matter what you do, and if you're not careful, you'll trip and fall... and hang upside down with your face inches from the moss because the brambles rescued you (how kind of them) after stabbing you a billion times.
