It was a fine line, to be sure, to force communication somehow and yet still be true to the highly guarded characters that they are. I'm not sure I succeeded at every point, but I'm pleased with the overall effect. I'm glad you were too. Thanks for commenting.

Oh, hurrah! Three cheers for finishing it! I enjoyed reading it so much - reread parts over again. And Jack sucking on Ianto's soft cock is only the sexiest thing ever. Ugh.

I really liked how this wasn't as bitter as some usual interpretations - I mean, there's still plenty of anger and resentment, but it feels more realistic in scale. Less melodrama, more real emotion - that's what stood out to me above all else, in it, along with the vivid sensuality of it all, sexual or not. I think my favourite flashback was Jack propositioning Ianto so easily on the couch - I could precisely see that. And the moment on the rocks was furious and desperate and really, really cathartic and hot.

You know, I really agonized over that bit. I've seen that kind of move played for...kind of like a party trick, you know? And that wasn't what I was going for. Despite how much I like to write sex, I never do it just for its own sake. Well okay, rarely. I wanted that last scene to be raw and desperate, and to bely a willingness for intimacy that they would neither articulate nor deny. It sounds like I managed to sound that note for you, so I'm glad.

It was one of the first Torchwood fics I started reading, and I realize that I've only been reading Torchwood fic for 3 months.
