Eeeeee, I love this!! The genius of casting Bones as Marilyn Monroe just fills me with glee. You've done such a wonderful job of making him the ubermale, so sweet and gentlemanly and irresistible to Jim--and to everyone else! The perfect sexpot. And I love love love Hikaru as "Daphne." Jim's inner voice is so fun and lighthearted, and his snarky friendship (with benefits!) with Hikaru is great. I always long for more Hikaru and fic and here he is, stealing the show. But then, I love all the casting you've done here, Uhura and Spock, the girls in the band and Pavel, too.

Plus you've managed to work in some real depth and heart to the relationship between Bones and Jim. I'm really looking forward to reading the end of this story! Thanks so much for sharing it.

What a lovely comment, thank you! Bones as Marilyn was tricky, he had to be drop-dead sexy as well as a little vulnerable - I'm thrilled you like how I wrote him. :D As for Sulu, there can never be enough Sulu and I do cast him as Jim's best friend often because they just work together imho.

It'll be a couple of weeks before the final part's done. There's so much I need to include with Spock and Nero, of course. Watch this space!

This just gets better and better! Kissing, kissing and more kissing! OMG! Sexytimes in the wheelhouse! JFC! Bones is off the charts sexy. Jim's conscience getting the best of him is wonderful. I can't wait to see how you resolve this.

OHHHH... Poor Jim! And all the while I'm worried about those four hearts I keep wondering what is going to happen with Nero. And how will Bones forgive him. Damn, I wish I knew how the actual movie went.

Um... I love the Sh*t out of this story right now, i love everything about it, and I can't wait to see the shit hit the fan. Jim and Leonard had such an intense night together, but it was a night full of lies and it breaks my heart! The musical choices are INSPIRED and really help the story, (but some of the links come up as "malformed" at least the youtube ones). I love the way you describe Bones, he's so broody and intense and musical, and you HAVE to love the way he renders Jim into a weak bowl of love-full jelly.
I cannot wait to read the rest of this, please update soon!

Hey, bb, I happened to be online when your comment came through so I thought I'd reply straight away :D Firstly, thank you so much for your lovely, generous comment! Yeah, Bones is one sexy singer and I'm thrilled you liked this version of him; it was quite a challenge having him match up to the divine Marilyn Monroe but in male form.

Re the music; I'm so sorry some of the links don't work for you. I checked all of them from the UK and weepingnaiad checked from the USA but I know it's unlikely they work everywhere. :( Perhaps if you download the mix? The link is in the masterlist (see the top of this entry)- I wouldn't want you to miss out!

Also, thank you so much for your kind words re the musical choices, it really means a lot because it was such an integral part of writing this story. So much fell into place for me while listening to these favourites!

I'll update soon, I promise, and hopefully the resolution is satisfying!

No worries about the music! I either listened to or downloaded every single song. Your taste is impeccable. I think my favorite choices are for the pieces that Bones writes, I mean Rufus Wainwright?! How broody and lovely and perfect! Truthfully I usually blanche at having music woven into a fic, but this is one of the times where it simply needs to be there. I love how most everyone in the band retains their enterprise functionality via the lens of music, especially with Spock, because if any instrument is a mathematical one, it's the piano, and the idea of him loving the permutations is divine. Kirk with a showy sax, it's just natural, Christine all capable and level headed on the drums - every choice fits the essence of the character, and that makes it easy to sink into this world. Plus Chekov is a little darling and I want to steal him and never let him go. I adore how smitten he is with Hikaru, and oddly enough find myself really invested in their success too

Truthfully I usually blanche at having music woven into a fic, but this is one of the times where it simply needs to be there. I'm kind of the same, but yeah - this is so important to the story, thank you!

Oh, Jim! I love being in his head for this, how he's been completely swept away and yet it's all based on a lie. It's good to see that he has a conscience, that he tried so hard to do the right thing. And that he's regretting the lie. I love seeing his selfless side.

Now, for the RAWR... Bones. Oh, hon! *fans self* You did it! He's still growly, prickly outside, vulnerable and schmooshy on the inside Bones, but he's sexy and sultry, fills Marilyn's role quite well. I really don't want him to find out the truth, since he's already smitten and doesn't deserve to be hurt again. Bless him.

And I can't sign off without commenting on Sulu and Chekov. So adorable! I can so see that last scene... 'Nobody's perfect' :D

You done good with the tech, too! <3 And you know I'm always happy to help, dearest!

ETA: "You and the Night and the Music" is blocked to the USA by EMI. *sigh* Nothing you can do about it, m'dear. The mix is the only sure way for folks to hear the music every where.
