I hate you, Good Day New York.

Nov 26, 2007 13:44

I left work early because I was feeling like mucus-filled death. So, I sat on the nearly empty local R on my way home, glaring at the Good Day New York advertisements surrounding me. I've complained to Rhett about ths fucking ad before so this will be repetitive for at least one of you ( Read more... )

Okay, it looks like there's some sort of fly-fishing maneuver involved based on the instructions. Do you get money for doing this dance on TV? Because it seems like you'd look pretty goofy doing it on TV and I just don't see the point in being on TV to do a goofy dance if I'm not getting paid.

I think dancing on TV is supposed to be its own reward.

URGENT

Dear Sir,

Re: You being lame

It has come to our attention that you are posting lame replies on Livejournal. An example may be found at the follow internet address:
http://sanguine37.livejournal.com/117992.html?thread=308200#t308200

You have the rest of your life to stop being lame. The sooner the better.

Failing this, we will apply for an injunction, and will also seek to recover costs and damages (plus interest) for your tortious acts and conduct.

This is our final communication to you on this matter, and we look forward to hearing from you as a matter of urgency.

Yours faithfully
Rhett

Dear Madam,
I regret to inform you that my state of lameness is a stable state for me. It takes an inordinate amount of work not to be lame, and until I am assured that I will be fairly compensated for that work, I will continue to be lame until such time that I cease to function. Your understanding is appreciated.
Regards,
Smamanda

I hate TV anchors. Local TV is the absolute worst, though. I hate how they all feel obligated to laugh at each others horrible jokes and puns. I also hate how they feel obligated to say horrible jokes and puns.

Indeed. Do you think they're plastic or that they have some idea of how fake they are?

I think they take pride in how fake they are.

"I'm just like every other TV anchor!"

That's just the culture they have developed. No normal person can walk in off the street and do it.

Although that wouldn't be a bad idea, getting just any person off the street every day and having them do the news.

You see things I don't see. Her boots trying to be "urban", for example. I do agree they are all as unoffensive as possible but that's just why they were chosen to represent that show. It's the same argument I have when someone says they'll watch a t.v. show because a character is hot... of course they're hot. Otherwise they wouldn't have been put on television. It doesn't mean that's a good reason to watch the show.

Next a rival t.v. morning show will come up with a salad to represent their show and advertise it in the subways: "Lettuce! Onion! Lead paint chips! It's the NBC Morning Show Salad!"

I know that's why they were chosen to represent the show. That's what bothers me. That's why I must avoid that ish at all costs and it annoys me that I'm surrounded by it without being able to get away.

Because when you randomly select three people on the streets, one is going to be black and one is going to be a female.

Interesting but probably only related because I am tired story...I was getting interviewed like 8 years ago for something on the Discovery channel and the reportress was one of those generally hot yet unoffensive types and I remember that I kept getting that undeniable "Yes, I am wearing a business suit and am totally professional, but I am actually a filthy, filthy girl who likes nearly unspeakable things".

Jesus, why the hell didn't I go for that?
