eutopia?

Ever wonder if George Orwell was on the right track to a perfect world? I mean , practically all of us have read 1984. For the majority that read that book said to themselves " god, that sucks." Great post! Very thoughtful. I remember seeing a movie called "Eutopia" a long time ago. It illustrated a place that at first appeared perfect, but on closer examination, everyone was really apathetic - no joy in that!

Goes to the old debate-- relative merits of individuality and celebration of self, or identification with a larger community and celebration of shared values. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. wrote a story where everyone was made equal by handicapping those above average. Smart people had constant distracting noises in their headsets, athletic types were shackled and weighted down. Interesting.
