The Pittsburgh accent makes me angry. It's a trigger I hadn't identified before this morning when I heard it on the radio. It's not a trigger that sends me into a panic attack or anything dramatic like that, it just puts me in a fowl mood. I get that smash something kind of feeling...my own terrible little streak of violence begging to be let loose

people i used to know, triggers

Racer X talk that way? I don't know if I've ever heard anyone speak that way outside the movies.

I hate running across girls who remind me of Zilla. Fortunately, the world can't hold many of those.

It should have been "youns" instead of "youse". santakiko March 30 2009, 20:09:07 UTC
No, RacerX had a west coast, non-accent accent.

The trigger seems to be a generalized "those people" thing with a few specific people in there, but no one moment in particular. Just: ugh that accent.

The members of my immediate family have a slight accent, some more than others. My nephew's is crazy strong. It's not exactly Pittsburgh, though, I think it's more regional than that. Edging toward West Virginian...which is totally different but just as horrible.

The people who lived on the street where the big shooting was yesterday were all talking to the media and most of them were yinzers (as opposed to youzers). Gah.
