I think, maybe, i need to start my journey into vegetarianism. Its a lot better for the environment, its better for my body ( maybe) and sometimes, i feel like I'm not really progressive if i don't give up meat. GAh, why do i take things that people say so personally? I'm not a bad person, really, I'm not ( Read more... )

Meateater...hehe. I hear you on the identity crisis thing. Are we a generation of premature identity crises?

Dao!

I totally support you (of course) but I just hope you are doing all of this for the right reasons and not because of someone else's silly words. It's your life and your thoughts and your body and your will, not hers.

Anyway, if this is what YOU want, I'm totally happy for you!

we all have identity crises...but you still shouldn't feel like a hypocrite.

Remember when Annie showed us all her boobs, and no one looked. Yeah, that was funny. distort_1999 December 14 2004, 03:19:44 UTC
Steak. You're giving up Steak. Why?

Remember when Selene became a vegetarian and cows across the country went into hiding.

Well . . . alright. If that's what you want. But why not vegan because there is immense cruelty subjected to animals across the board when it comes to consumer products in general. But what about the Plants! They're Alive Too! I'm being an ass, needlessly.

i heart you. but i don't think you're a bad person if you eat meat. but maybe that's because i don't want to see myself as a bad person. i _like_ meat, if it's not downer's. sometimes even if it is downer's. anyhow... certainly, buying and eating free-range meat is better (and way more expensive) than eating, well, the tortured stuff. and i think, when/if i'm buying my own meat, that's the way to go. but, honestly, i have accepted my omnivoriousness (is that a word?). accept whatever you need to.
p.s. most of the co-op kids are _not_ strict vegetarians, as far as i know. some of them are. i'm not sure of exact numbers. anyhow.

Going vegetarian is a huge lifestyle change. I have been one for 10 years now. Don't do it just to not feel like a hypacrite otherwise everytime someone around you is eating meat, you will want it more than anything in the world and that... that, my friend, is torture.

If you still decide to do it though, then going about it gradually is the best strategy because going cold turkey (hahah) is not healthy and can definately have setbacks with cravings.
