Lots and lots of papers.
Seven papers stand between me and my comprehensive examinations next year. The only way I could get through all of it is by writing short, informal entries (a.k.a. preliminary writing) daily. Below is a list of all my subjects and what I'm writing on:

getting back into the habit
I have resolved to start writing again. Even just a paragraph a day. The lack of practice has already trickled down to work: writing five papers simultaneously is proving to be a Herculean task because I am no longer in the habit.
