So, I'm not sure how many folks have read Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal, but it's a very funny essay satirizing Malthus and the early economists. Basically, it suggests that since the population of Britain's poor is growing exponentially, and food shortages are on the horizon, the simplest solution is cannibalism. Little kids can be veal.
