Wow, talk about perfume nerdery and suddenly you realize everyone around you has just wanted to discuss the chypres this whole time. A coworker took me to lunch and brought a very well-curated sample set of citrusy summer colognes! I liked some of them, though I tried almost all of them on paper. My notes are not complex, though.

So I've been trying to figure out rose perfumes, which generally smell nice in the bottle and morph immediately into cheap soap smell on my skin. I always thought that I was sensitive to smells, but only since I started trying to make sense of perfume (a sad number of which are still stuck in the purgatory of "something in this makes my throat hurt") have I started noticing that other people wear perfume. I suppose until now I classified perfume smell as part of the general cloud of laundry ( Read more... )
