Hmm... I looked into how much it would cost to get a U-Haul from here to Oregon and it ended up being around $1,700. Factoring gas into that and it would probably be around $2,500 - $3,000. *sigh* We'd probably be better off buying a newer car and getting a mini trailer to hook up onto the back of the car instead.
