Why? XD

One: I wasn't able to vote yesterday, I desperately tried to, they wouldn't let me since I wasn't in my riding. Since I still have my mail sent to my home up North, I can't prove I live in Toronto. I understand why I can't vote here, but a friend of mine who worked at polling stations before claims they have a list of all the ridings in the ( Read more... )

Good heavens, I had to go on my break to try and vote, but I never got that bloody voting card, and I wasn't included on the list, and I had no reference number thing. So they finally ended up writing my name down at the very end of the list, reference number XXXX, because I wouldn't leave until I got a bloody ballot. XD

Good times, though. I stood around with some of the volunteers, talking about what a horror show this election turned out to be. Hurr.

Also, it's because of the way they FUCKING DAMN SDNFKJAHDFAKJH WORDED IT. 'The existing electoral system' sounds nice and safe and lalala, so the jerkoffs who didn't bother to find out what the referendum was actually about felt safer just holding the course. I talked to one guy who thought it was like ... the Quebec referendum. Like ... we were voting on whether or not we wanted to keep Quebec as an official province.

Sarah, HLP, my dearest of dears. I KIND OF WANT TO DIE/DESTROY. ;~;

A-anyway, I just had an amazing epiphany this morning. I don't want good marks; I want to be good ( ... )

They wouldn't let me stay, I had the volunteer man on my side, but the higher up wouldn't allow, blah blah blah I had half a mind to drag my nonna back down there to prove I lived with her, but didn't want to bother her. However I am greatly worried over the fact that this man got to vote and I couldn't. XD

PS. This is the kind of bullshittery I have to deal with in these course readings:
"The importance of analyzing the ontological commitments of any epistemological theory is, of course, much greater when there are theological and eschatological questions at stake, and thus the elision of the theological context makes it less pressing to address the metaphysical dimension of Descarte's thinking."
. . . . .
That's the kind of sentence that loses you marks in high school because you're obviously throwing in complicated words to try to look smart. Try reading that at 3am in the god-damn morning and trying to make sense of it. Gah! XD

i wasn't sent anything in the mail in regards to voting, nor was i on any list. but if you had brought photo ID, and two pieces of government-ish bills (like a phone bill with your name and address on it etc) with your address on it you coulda voted. oh wells.
as for the philosophy thing...i dunno. i haven't actually read any of your assignments but going on what you tell me about your class, a critical eye could do you some good. philosophy is designed to be questioned and fought, not just to accept somebody's idea with a pat on the head and a "good job". that's something for support groups :P so get mean with it. that doesn't necessarily require bashing all philosophical ideas, but even providing detailed deconstructive analysis, pro or con of the theories studied. there is no face value in philosophy, unfortunately. lol so uh, ya, good luck with that.
