Sarah and I have been talking quite a bit about moving back into the city.  I'm really torn.  I love where we live, but the commute is not sustainable.

Moving into town: Pros

• Shorter commute


• Cheaper commute, especially as the price of gas continues to climb.  Ideally, I'd like to move within a 30 minute bike ride to Kanata.

You enumerated most of the reasons I live in town. I suspect I will as long as I refuse to own a car, although if I had a telecommutable job, I'd be awfully tempted to get out of here.

In the meantime, I try to content myself with the idea that one day, I'll be rich enough to afford a cottage which will be my space out of the city. Thank goodness my family already owns one which I can take advantage of when I can get a car... really, they don't usually get mashed while parked up there. ;)

I suppose if we live in the city, spending time at my parents' place is a good source of country for when it's needed. Kira and Caro suggested a timeshare cottage as well, which is a potential long-term possibility.

I would LOVE to live in the country but it's not practical. I think with a new baby coming practicle might be your best bet. :( Maybe you guys can timeshare on a cottage? Hugs to you all!

Is it worth looking to see what kind of work from home options you have?

Sadly, none. My current work is very interacting-with-people and local coordination based, which I can't do as well from home. To be honest, I'm not sure I have the discipline to work from home anyhow.
