Dedicated to my sister, who wanted to see some pictures of these. I wrote out some of the English words in the pictures written with Japanese letters. "Guessing-what-English-word-those-sounds-could-possibly-be-making" is a game that Mike and I play all the time.

The juxtaposition of characters and alphaletters is amazing to me.

I've totally given up on reading kanji before the battle even began. There's just no way. But hey, you can read "math," and that's basically also characters + alphaletters. And speaking math is just as foreign to most people in the US as Japanese.
