I arrived yesterday afternoon into Osaka. It was cloudy and cold- but the fog in the mountains when I flew in made the place seem beautiful and mysterious. Mike came and picked me up at the airport- a brief and wonderful reunion. We got on a commuter train to Kishiwada (where he has been living for the past six months) after a few minutes

Dude! that is exactly how I felt... except for the holding hands thing... I didn't hold kazu's hand.
Yeah basically I noticed that in tokyo at least, all of the cashiers say exactly the same paragraph. I still have no idea what it means.. but I also noticed that most of what people say is just "social grease", just like polite phrases that don't really mean a whole lot to westerners, but they make everything feel more comfortable.
dude! one more thing, You must try the following convenience store snack:
Dorayaki - 2 pancakes sandwiching redbean paste (you can find them in a little package in the bready foods aisle
Kirin Milk Tea - in the refrigerated soft drink section, it comes in a bottle with a slightly narrower neck. The lable is blue I think. "

Thanks for the food recommendations!! Mike has some powdered milk tea, but I haven't tried the Kirin kind yet. Azuki red bean paste is apparently god's gift to mankind, from what I hear.

It looks so scarily different there. I can't even imagine. I'm sure you'll learn a lot. Including that holding hands is evil.
I'm glad you made it safely. I have to quit typing because Brooke is sleeping and my keyboard is for some reason very loud right now.
