Sarah, I'm so sorry. And I agree with Femke - please try and stop looking things up on the web. So many people do this (yes, me included) and self-diagnosis is never a good thing. All you usually end up with is stress.
thanks for your concerns, but believe me, I'm not trying to self diagnose if I've got the cancer or not (I believe I've got 17 years or so to go on family history anyway).
I was wondering if there was a hereditary component to this cancer, and yes there is. there is research going on to try & idenity the chromosone. the institute of pancreaology (or whatever the word is) recommends that families with this history are screened at a pancreatic centre annually, as this cancer is so difficult to diagnose & treat.
I think it is worth knowing this before I visit the docs, I'll not be fobbed off with 'i wouldn't worry'. I've got a duty to my children to check this out.
