I ended up catching an old episode of Roswell this afternoon. I've actually seen bits of quite a lot of them recently, which is mainly due to the fact that I've been doing nothing else for the past three weeks but watch television. But today they all went to Las Vegas, and had fun. I remember that episode. I remember that I tend to consider that

The best Australian teen show has always and will always be Heartbreak High. If it was available on DVD I'd love to say that I wouldn't buy it, but I totally, totally would.

I used to watch that show too! Actually I think I just love Australian television. I used to watch Sweat, with Heath Ledger as well. That was a bit awful as well.

It was such a disappointment to me when about last year I bought Roswell S1 on DVD (don't mock me, I was feeling nostalgic) and it was...not good. Way more dull Max and Liz then I remembered and the episodes were kinda dull and not so sparky. Le sigh.

Even back in the fangirl days I thought KH looked way, way too old to be playing a 17 year old. And when the show started Jason Behr was supposed to be 16. So not even close to looking 16.

Ha! Even thought it was a tiny bit rubbish, rewatching it did make me realise how much I love Tess/Kyle (which is why the series ought to have ended in Vegas, so we didn't have any of that stupid 'you're just like my sister' rubbish.)

There is so much Liz & Max! Whoever thought they would be a good idea? (But remember the die hard dreamers? And how we went 'I don't quite understand why you like them so much?')

American dramas do always get stupidly old people to play teenagers though. Like during the first season of One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray was supposed to be sixteen. No one was going to believe that, surely?

I like it now though because it gave me Majandra Delfino and gave me bitchy Emilie de Raven. Because nice, sweet Emilie de Raven is overrated.

I can't even like it for that. Because throughout my rewatching my main thought was 'Wow, Maria's such a bitch.' I never noticed that before, but she's a rather selfish character. And annoying. I used to love Maria. She used to be my favourite character! Now I just think she's a brat.

I haven't rewatched my DVDs in a long time, but I tried to go back and read some Roswell fanfic a few months ago and gah! It was ridiculously bad somehow. I don't know if my fandoms now just have better writers or what, but really... bad. The only Roswell fics I still liked were extremely AU.

But yeah, I look back and wonder why I was so obsessed with that show (and I reallllly was completely obsessed at the time) and when I think back on it, I can barely remember what I liked. V. disappointing.
