I: Probability Event {Mutually Exclusive}

Apr 05, 2008 19:51

Mutually exclusive events cannot happen at the same time.

He'd been wide awake the night that Anne had died, because the storm had been bad and Jane had been afraid. Harry had been asleep, he actually slept back then, so it had been just him and Jane watching Rugrats videos until the rain let up.

He knew that something was wrong in his gut and in his heart. He could feel it. Anne had called at dinner-time, said that she was going to stay at the office overnight. Quite a few of her co-workers were going to do the same. The roads were bad, the roads were flooding. She didn't want to risk it, didn't want to risk an accident. The car was new.

The storm was bad.

She didn't call again, but Jim had been expecting that. He was sure the phones had been knocked out or something, that happened.

The storm was bad.

Harry had come back downstairs in the morning, and they'd had breakfast. Bacon and fruit loops. Because it was the weekend, because that was what Jane wanted. Because they were worried. Because Anne wasn't home yet. Because the streets were flooded.

Because Anne wasn't home.

Because the police were here.

And Anne wasn't home.
