A Kick in the Balls

 I think the title sums it up pretty well.  Basically, I have just been kicked in the balls by a company for whom I am already bent over!  Grr.  I reject RL, and will now be residing permanently in my own personal slash and yaoi filled fantasy land

Any way you can apply for partial unemployment. You can collect sometimes when your hours are cut.

Hang in there. Less money is scary until you readjust and figure out how to make it all work with what you've got. I've done that more times than I'd care to count.

Be glad to brain storm that with you on that if you need to.

Ouch. I hope you can find some way around it. I suppose they expect you to work your old hours+ to get everything done while they pay you less. Good luck.

It is something that happens a lot over here in the UK (at least since the credit crunch). Reduced hours make the government happy because part-time workers don't show up on the unemployed figures. I'm not sure what the firms get out of it though. Most used to prefer cutting staff to keeping them on reduced hours - less of a tax burden as it has always been more expensive to have two part-time workers than one full-time. Perhaps the rules on that have changed.

I don't envy the position that my bosses are in, I just don't see this as a viable solution. In fact, I think they're shooting themselves in the foot. We're in a difficult position because we're taking hits from both sides: manufacturing costs are increasing and sales are decreasing. Here's hoping some of our marketing initiatives pay off, and we see an upswing by the beginning of 4th quarter.
