I have family in Lima, Peru and the surrounding area. Most of the family is about 90 kilometers north of the city in Huaral, but there are family members scattered. When I was quite young, a hurricane hit Puerto Rico, where my uncle and his wife were living at the time. One of us was always on the phone, trying to call his number, waiting to get a dial tone instead of the "Due to hurricane damage, the line you are calling is unavailable" message. It was a long time before we got through. But we did - and they were fine. I wish the same happy outcome for your family. *hugs* to you all.
