SMOULDERING TOPAZ. SMOULDERING. AND TOPAZ.

Nov 10, 2008 10:49

So I was zooming around tv channels (okay, I think you're supposed to say flipping, but I WAS ZOOMING around the twenty channels we get) last week and settled on watching some randomly horrible medieval-y looking show (how can you go wrong there?). About half an hour into it I started spluttering and freaking out realizing it was supposed to be an ( Read more... )

Yeah, the Twilight series is retarded. It appeals to a certain kind of person and sadly that kind of person has made Meyer millions. It's totally okay to be a creepy stalker that watches you sleep if you're hot. And it's also great for feminism if you get borderline suicidal if you don't have a man in your life =D

WAIT IT'S NOT OKAY TO BE SUICIDAL IF I DON'T HAVE A MAN IN MY LIFE? OH DESPAIR AND ANGST.

...Oh Cody, let's hang out soon. :D

DON'T GO RIDING MOTORCYCLES IF YOU'RE CLUMSY JUST SO THAT YOU CAN HEAR HIS VOICE.

I didn't bother with Breaking Dawn. The only reason I listened to the books was because my friend is a die-hard Twilighter and she thought I'd like them (what an insult to my intelligence XD). Even she said BD was like bad fanfic.

Ha ha, I'd always like to hang out with you, Shortcake! D*C next year, right? I might even be going to Otakon, ha ha ha ha. Let's talk sometime soon, I'll bring you up to speed!

Yeah that is kind of an insult to your intelligence- and I completely agree that it's like bad fanfiction. Self-glorifying cheesy 'romantic' Mary Sue fanfiction. D:

YES next year absolutely! You're going to go to Otakon?! You're doing this because I'm boycotting it, aren't you? I see right through your clever plan! :D

Oh come on now... you are being unduely harsh on these books, stories, and movies because you have that one thing.... what is it called again? Oh yes, STANDARDS!!!

You have had a good meal before, that is how you know when someone tries to get you to eat a turd. Rehashed Anne Rice, Buffy/Angel stories... ugh...

XENA FOREVER!!! At least it gave Sam Rami's little brother employment. :p

Sad thing is I really don't feel like I should criticize too much since I AM listening to all of them. D:

Maybe I'm just bad at Vampire stuff? I mean, I don't like Anne Rice or Buffy/Angel either. D: But then Anne Rice always came off as a seriously sexually repressed fangirl to me and I have issues with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
No, that's not it though. I think it's (the vampire stuff) a neat concept, but I haven't read any vampire material that hasn't driven me up the wall yet. Then again, I don't really seek it out either because it always seems so emo/goth.

Sam Raimi and Ted Raimi look so ridiculously alike it's scary!

I consider SMG to be the female William Shatner with how she treated her co-stars. But the sixth season of Buffy is still one of my favorite years of television for all time. She is a flawed, flawed character... and they had the musical episode. :p

The best vampire story/character since Bram Stoker was Cassidy from the "Preacher" series of comic books. He wasn't goth or emo and he didn't have much patience with those that were. He WAS a monster though and not because he drank blood and would burn up in the daylight. I can't recommend these comics enough. Someone is going to make a REALLY good movie about them someday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassidy_(DC_Comics)#Cassidy

I saw Ted Rami doing a small part on a 30 minute horror short that was a spin off of "30 Days of Night" He still looks like old Ted.

Ooh hey, thanks! I'll look into those :D
Either they'll make a really good movie of them or horribly slaughter them and turn them into a happy sparkly love story of some sort? Oh Hollywood, what you do sometimes... ;_;

I just finished Brisingr and it was painful. =( Did there have to be a huge drama in EVERY chapter?

Oh man, I couldn't even bring myself to read Brisingr... I read Eragon and Eldest but that was more than enough. It didn't seem like Paolini had a single creative thought in his head- every name and plot device was taken from another fantasy series and it made me nuts to realize how many people thought it was a clever original series. D: God I sound like such a douchebag, I have no idea why these two series make me so annoyed. x_X

LOL! No, I totally agree. XD I just HAD to force myself through it.

I won't even touch Twilight, I can't bring myself to. XD Although I do admit to reading Laurel K. Hamilton as a guilty pleasure. XD Really, REALLY guilty. XD

[Edited because I can't spell]

Ha ha, awesome- I haven't read her, but I'm so so guilty of reading other ridiculous series and enjoying them a lot, so- yeah. I guess I'm really not one to talk. XD

Oh man, mediocre fanfic pretty much covers it. D: I noticed that at my local bookstore too, they had a little display of popular romantic vampire stories. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. :D
