To my local folks

Hey, everybody who lives around the Twin Cities area? If you see any sort of job openings around St. Paul, ANYTHING that someone with an associates in Library Science or Graphic Design can get, let me know, OK? I've been looking all over and sending out resumes (fuck, I just spent 12 bucks faxing some! ~>( ) but I'm sure I could have missed stuff ( Read more... )

That's a big chunk of change to fax resumes. 0_0 You might want to try doing it from the local branch of your state's employment division, since they might let you do it for free. I don't know what it's like for MN, but the one in Oregon will let you send local faxes for free, as long as it's job search-related.

That's depending, of course, on how convenient it is to get there, especially when they're open (while you might not be yourself). You might also want to look into other non-profit places that offer job search assistance (check with your employment division, because even if they can't help directly, they might have information on resources you can look into).

Good luck. <3

Thats good advice, Angie, thanks. ~:3 I'll try that.

I think the problem was that I just didn't realize how much I was fucking faxing until the chick was like, "12 dollars please" and I was like, "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF" ~;3

I think it rather sucks righteously that some countries actually have websites devoted JUST to jobs for librarians (buddy of mine in Australia was searching his local librarian job boards after having been laid off for almost a year), but we don't seem to have such, here. :(

I'll keep my eyes open. I wish I could offer encouragement on the graphic design job front, but I didn't know that the job market for that here sucked so bad till Pseudo clued us in.

Well, one thing I've noticed about library jobs in the places I've lived is that you don't get an opening unless someone retires or dies, and even then you have to wait a year while everyone gets promoted to fill the gap before an entry or basic level position opens. *shrugs*

And I think it wouldn't matter where I lived, the graphic design market is completely flooded everywhere, from what I can tell. A while ago my mom was like, "You should move home! We read there was a design job at a local company!" and I was like, "And if I don't get that one job? Duh?" ~;3
