OHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Are you playing the original? I have one and 2, with all the expansion packs. But I never got around to finishing one, so I haven't even started 2.

yep, that's totally why I'm playing the first one too, I am so psychotic about continuity. I'm not really playing it for the game in and of itself, honestly; I just want to be done with it so I can play the second one.
